bought this for the car. very pleased, great looking picture and easy to set up and use. would have given 5 stars, but……then decided to buy another 2 screens (as got an MPV and wanted all the kids to be able to watch easily), was near a Tescos at the time, and bought their cheapy £80 dual screen DVD – half the price of this. the screen quality is just as good PLUS you get a remote PLUS a carry case with it, so there seems little point in ever buying the Philips one at this price. the philips DVD was slightly louder so therefore can be used in the car without eraphones, and it does play a wider variety of file/film types, but if all you’re going to use it for is DVDs with the kids wearing headphones, it really isn’t worth the extra cash.

This system has minimal wires, and straps directly to the headrest uprights. I have had a pervious system that I returned as it had far too many cables and the pouches the screens fitted in were difficut to fit. This system has minimal wires, and straps directly to the headrest uprights. Can be fitted and removed in a few minutes and DVDs can be changed without removing the system.
Picture quality is veryu good and price is competative for a decent branded product.

All the bass and treble high ends are clipped making it totally worthless. I ended up returning this and getting a Griffin AUX instead which has a much better sound quality.

Very helpful little device that has a built in variable length cable to attach my ipod touch to the in-car audio system via an audio jack, while simultaneously charging the ipod, by plugging in to the car power point/cigarette lighter. The audio cable wraps around the main body of the thing inside a cover which slides down to reveal the cable. I found this a bit difficult to work out initially.

The thing had bright blue leds which lit up for the first few weeks but then gave up the ghost altogether. Not complaining though as they were completely superfluous and a bit over-bright. Has a slight background buzz, only noticeable if you listen carefully or if very little background noise from the car. Pause/play button is very sensitive and also very helpful. You can also move to the next track easily. Still haven’t worked out what the other buttons are for (don’t seem to do anything).

Ideal device for playing ipod in car while re-charging it.

Nice speakers and went straight in my car fine. Very clear sound from them although you will need to make sure your headunit can supply the power that these require to work correctly otherwise they will sound awful (as with any speakers struggling with not enough power being driven to them).
Don’t expect to simply wire them into your standard stereo and get loads of power/volume, you won’t!
I would recommend using an external amplifier of approx 100-150 watts to benefit from these speakers properly (most headunits in cars are only 40-50 watts per channel).
If you aren’t willing to go down that road, then I suggest using a pair of 20-50 watt speakers instead to match the output of the headunit already.
They also come with cable and mounting brackets supplied.

IT RECALCULATES THE CHANGE OF DIRECTION VERY QUICKLY. WE HAVE HAD AN RAC AND TOM TOM ONE AND THIS IS MUCH BETTER. THIS IS A REALLY GOOD SAT NAV, IT IS SIMPLE TO USE GOOD GRAPHICS AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT.THE SIZE OF THE SCREEN IS MUCH BETTER ASWELL. IT RECALCULATES THE CHANGE OF DIRECTION VERY QUICKLY. WE HAVE HAD AN RAC AND TOM TOM ONE AND THIS IS MUCH BETTER. I HAVNT USED THE MOBILE PHONE FEATURE ON IT, BUT OTHERWISE IT IS EXCELLENT.

I thought for a long time before I purchased a Sat Nav and wondered if I really needed such a gadget. Once I decided that wanted one, there came the problem of which one to choose, the review sites contain lots of often conflicting advice about the set up and operation.This can make it difficult to decide what model to choose. I scanned the internet for models, features and prices and found what suited me. An offer of a 10% discount on the price was all that I needed to make my mind up.The Garmin Sat Nav also came free P&P. The Garmin is easy to set up and use
straight out of the box and I have upgraded the maps to the latest version free of charge.The wide screen is easy to see and the bluetooth syncs with my phone to make and receive hands free calls. So far so good. I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to using it on a decent journey.

Basically i was regularly getting lost on long journeys while using printed directions from the various map sites. I digress a tad. Right! **INSTRUCTIONS** Plug the NUVI 215 into the in-car power socket and wait for it to find a satellite. This is a one time only thing and then you are ready to go!! It's that easy. Inputting destination is easy and it gives you the option to save etc etc etc.<br/>The screen on this particular model is very clear and gives you a multi zoom in and out option always displayed.<br/>There is an eco-route option which i plan to use on my next journey. If you are a bit of an explorer, there is a points of interest function, petrol station, hospital etc etc etc. You can add detours, add a stop en-route. The screen is not cluttered with useless information and a shedload of funky icons.<br/>Ooooh there's a bluetooth thingy.........whatever that is.<br/>Comes with a car charger and windscreen suction mount which does it's job perfectly.<br/><br/>Basically, if you want a Satnav that does NOT come preloaded with Encyclopedia Brittanica and can trim your nasal hairs above 60mph etc etc etc......but want a sat nav that is simple to use, concise, clear and functional, this is the one. I am a proud technophobe and this is well within my capabilities. No fuss…great for busy technophobes!, 13 July 2010

I was bought this model for my birthday as i am not the most advanced when it comes to gadgetry(understatement). Basically i was regularly getting lost on long journeys while using printed directions from the various map sites. I digress a tad. Right! **INSTRUCTIONS** Plug the NUVI 215 into the in-car power socket and wait for it to find a satellite. This is a one time only thing and then you are ready to go!! It’s that easy. Inputting destination is easy and it gives you the option to save etc etc etc.
The screen on this particular model is very clear and gives you a multi zoom in and out option always displayed.
There is an eco-route option which i plan to use on my next journey. If you are a bit of an explorer, there is a points of interest function, petrol station, hospital etc etc etc. You can add detours, add a stop en-route. The screen is not cluttered with useless information and a shedload of funky icons.
Ooooh there’s a bluetooth thingy………whatever that is.
Comes with a car charger and windscreen suction mount which does it’s job perfectly.

Basically, if you want a Satnav that does NOT come preloaded with Encyclopedia Brittanica and can trim your nasal hairs above 60mph etc etc etc……but want a sat nav that is simple to use, concise, clear and functional, this is the one. I am a proud technophobe and this is well within my capabilities.
